Bajaj is all-set to launch their most powerful motorcycle in December 2016. Called Dominar 400, this new motorcycle is based on the Pulsar CS400 concept which was showcased back in 2014 Auto Expo. The reason the bike is to be called Dominar is because Bajaj is confident that the bike will be dominant in the segment for the next one decade.
With production underway, MotoVlogger by the name InfoClone has manage to get a test ride of the Bajaj Dominar 400 test mule recently in Pune. Below is a short video he managed to record.
After the short test ride, InfoClone stated the following about the new Bajaj Dominar 400;
– It looks beefy and has a gem of an engine!
– It doesn’t sound like KTM, is way more smoother n bassy
– The engine is very refined, butter smooth, has a very strong mid range. Tailer made for touring
– No vibrations from the engine
– Seating posture is comfy for all riding positions
– Bike is easy to handle
– Headlights are powerful
– 2 consoles like Ducati Diavel
Below are some screenshots, which detail the Dominar 400 in the words of the motovlogger.
Speaking about the design, Dominar gets the minimalist headlamp cowl, sleek LED indicators, flat handlebar, well-executed fuel tank, fully digital instrument console with an auxiliary display on the fuel tank, stubby silencer and instantly recognizable taillight with twin vertical LED elements remain faithful to the elements seen on the concept. The compartmented headlamp cluster has been carried forward from the concept without any changes.
The production model does feature some changes compared to the concept such as a regular front telescopic fork against the concept’s USD fork and split seats instead a single heavily contoured unit. The fastest and the most powerful Pulsar yet will target touring enthusiasts.
Bajaj Dominar 400’s engine is based on the KTM 390 family’s 373.2 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine but will get the triple spark technology. On board the KTMs, the motor produces 44 PS and 35 Nm of torque. Transmission will be a 6-speed unit. It has been reported that Dominar 400 engine will generate 35 PS and will have a gross weight of 332 kgs.
Bajaj Dominar 400 will be equipped with dual-channel ABS (both discs have ABS rings). Launch is slated for November 2016. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of Mahindra Mojo, Royal Enfield Himalayan, KTM Duke 390 and the likes.
