Wait almost over. Bajaj Pulsar 200 RS is the official name

Just a few minutes back, Bajaj has officially teased their new Pulsar. Coincidentally, just after we posted this story.

After revealing the motorcycle in all major two wheeler markets of South East Asia, Bajaj Auto finally gives India the first official teaser of their fully faired 200 cc Pulsar. To be named Bajaj Pulsar 200 RS (and not 200 SS), the teaser also reveals that this is going to be the fastest Pulsar motorcycle yet.

To feature the same 199.5 cc single cylinder engine which is seen on board the existing Pulsar 200 NS, in the new RS variant, it will be tuned to deliver more power. Currently, on board the 200 NS, this engine generates 23 hp power and 18.3 Nm torque at 9500 rpm and 8000 rpm respectively. We expect the new Pulsar 200 RS to deliver 25 hp and 19.2 Nm torque at 10,000 rpm and 8000 rpm respectively. (Yes, these are the specs of KTM Duke 200 and RC 200).

Apart from added power, the new Bajaj Pulsar 200 RS is also more aerodynamic. This will aid in achieving a higher top speed as compared to the Pulsar 200 NS, which has a top speed of 136 kmph. Wrapped around the 17 inch alloys, expect 110/70 rubber in the front and 150/60 rubber in the rear.

Features will include twin projector headlamps upfront with LED DRLs, LED tail-lights, split seats, muscular body, telescopic front fork suspension, mono shock absorber for the rear, and a tall two piece handlebar. We expect two variants on offer, a base variant without ABS and Fuel injection, and another with FI and single channel ABS from Bosch.

Bookings have been opened at select dealers while deliveries will only commence from late next month. Starting price is predicted to be lower than Yamaha R15, at Rs 1.1 lakhs ex-showroom.
