What was spotted on test just a few days ago in India, has now entered production. We are talking about the new Pulsar AS200, also known as Adventure Sports.
Standing next to the Pulsar RS200 inside Bajaj Auto’s plant in Pune, Bajaj Pulsar AS200 launch could take place on the same day, which is 26th March 2015. Powered by the same 199.5 cc single cylinder engine which powers the NS200, on AS200 it will generate 24.4 PS power and 18.6 Nm torque. This means, compared to the NS200, it will be slightly more powerful, delivering better top speed and acceleration.
Other than this, it will feature a half fairing in the front, very similar to what is seen on the P220, but more attractive and chunky. Headlight unit consists of two lamps and twin pilot lamps on top corners, this too is inspired from P220. The front head unit also gets a windscreen, reminding of rival Hero Karizma, which is probably what Bajaj would be eyeing to compete with once AS200 is launched.
There are no LED DRLs like in RS200, not there are crystal LED tail-lights. Handlebar and riding posture too remains same as NS200, which basically implies that the AS200 mostly gets cosmetic updates. Expect price of AS200 to be about Rs 5,000 to 10,000 more than NS200, which retails at about Rs 90,000, ex-showroom, Maharashtra. We do not expect ABS or Fuel Injection system to be on offer with AS200.
