At the hands of Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto, the new Pulsar name-plate will begin a fresh new journey, this time in the adventure sport category. This will be in the form of Bajaj Pulsar AS200 launch, which will take place in New Delhi today.
Already spied on test multiple times, the Pulsar AS200 entered production at the same time as that of RS200; which was launched about 20 days back on 26th March. Based on the NS200, AS200 is styled on the KTM Adventure models. In the front, you have a semi-fairing, which houses one projector lamp and a regular halogen lamp. There are no LEDs on offer.
New Bajaj Pulsar AS200 will be powered by the same 199.5cc single cylinder liquid engine which powers the NS200. Just like the NS200, AS200 will also be devoid of Fuel Injection and ABS (both these features are on offer with the RS200). Power output of this engine will be 23.52 PS at 9500 rpm and 18.3 Nm torque at 8000 rpm.
First launched in November 2001, the Pulsar brand has evolved radically over the years. As of now, under the Pulsar brand, Bajaj offers six motorcycles – 135 LS, 150, 180, 220, 200NS and RS200 (flagship). Today, there will be a new member which will be added to this growing family – Bajaj Pulsar AS200 or Adventure Sport.
And the product offensive does not end with Pulsar AS200 for Bajaj. For 2015, they have three more Pulsar launches lined-up, one each in May, June and July. We guess these could be the 150AS, 180NS and a 400SS.
For now, lets focus on the AS200, which will be launched today. The LIVE webcast will be streamed in the feed below from 11:30 PM India Time.
