Bajaj Auto had launched the Pulsar 200 NS in India back 2012. But, due to undisclosed reasons, the manufacturer discontinued the motorcycle from India. Though on sale in export markets, the reason behind discontinuing 200 NS was always a mystery. Enthusiasts were angry.
Earlier this year, Bajaj Auto finally re-launched the new Pulsar 200 NS. The 2017 Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS is now on sale across Bajaj dealerships for a starting price of INR 98,000, ex-showroom. At that time, only a single variant was launched. Now, another variant has been added. It comes with a single channel ABS and is priced from INR 1.09 lakh, ex-showroom.
As is the case with recent Pulsar variant launches, Bajaj is yet to officially announce the launch, but some of their dealers have already started accepting bookings. Bajaj dealers will offer test rides of Pulsar 200 NS.
In India, the new Pulsar NS200 is powered by the same 199.5 cc engine which powers the AS200. This engine is good for 23 hp and 18.3 Nm of torque. Transmission is taken care by a 6 speed unit. Kerb weight stays at 145 kgs. The 17 inch alloys are shodded with MRF NyloGrip tyres while it gets the new AHO (Always Headlamp On) feature. Three colour are on offer – Wild Red, Mirage White and Graphite Black. The engine delivers 23.5 PS at 9500 rpm and 18.3 Nm of torque at 8000 rpm, the same as before.
Visually, the refreshed Pulsar 200 NS comes with new styling kits, along with new dual-tone color schemes, and a relocated pulsar logo. Positioned below the Pulsar RS 200. It will continue to be a cheaper alternative to the KTM Duke 200. In terms of rivalry, it will compete head on with the new Apache 200 which is priced from INR 94,015 and Yamaha FZ25 which is priced from INR 1.2 lakh.
