Bajaj Auto, one of the leading motorcycle manufacturers in the country is all set to introduce their most powerful motorcycle till date – Bajaj Pulsar 400. Ahead of official launch, leaked scans of the official brochure and ARAI test report (unconfirmed) reveal that the new Pulsar will be called VS400.
Leaked photos show the new Pulsar wearing a shiny VS400 on the cowl under pillion seat. Apart from that, the VS400 badge is not seen anywhere.
There is also a document which has ARAI logo and address on its letterhead. This document reveals some specs of Bajaj Pulsar VS400. The engine as per this document, is a 373.27 cc generating 25.74 kW (35 PS) @ 8,000 rpm. If this is true, it means that though the new Pulsar 400 is powered by the same engine as KTM Duke / RC 390, the power output is different. The same engine delivers 44 PS aboard the KTM twins.
Designed as a cruiser, which will offer comfortable ride over long distance, the new Bajaj Pulsar VS400 has a gross vehicle weight of 332 kgs (GVW = Kerb Weight + the weight of Fuel + Oil + Rider + Pillion).
Design inspired by Ducati Diavel, the new Pulsar VS 400 features LED head lamps, LED tail lamps, LED side blinkers, mono shock rear suspension, liquid cooled FI engine with triple spark technology, disc brakes with dual channel ABS, split seats, two fully digital displays as instrument panel, and stylish new alloys.
Showcased as a concept back at the 2014 Auto Expo as Bajaj Pulsar CS400, where CS stands for Cruiser Sport, it is unclear yet what the ‘V’ in VS400 stand for. The last time Bajaj launched a bike with the letter ‘V’, it meant Victory. Does Bajaj Pulsar VS400 stand for Victory Sport? Have they added some part of INS Vikrant’s scrap metal to new Pulsar VS400?
These answers will only be revealed once the bike is launched next month. Until then, have a look at a few photos and videos of the upcoming Pulsar below.
