Bajaj Commercial Vehicles Spy Shots Upcoming

Bajaj Qute spotted inside a Bajaj Commercial dealership

Power comes from a single-cylinder DTS-i petrol engine.

It seems like the Bajaj Qute quadricycle has finally managed to dodge the slew of legal hurdles which have been preventing it from going on sale in India. Though there is no confirmation from Bajaj on Qute’s India launch yet, our reader Sunay Saraf has managed to spot a Bajaj Qute inside a Bajaj dealership in Gujarat.

India’s first quadricycle, Bajaj Qute is powered by a 216 cc single-cylinder DTS-i petrol engine which is mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox to produce around 20 PS. Fuel economy is expected to be around 35 kmpl.

Government of India recognized quadricycle under the new vehicle category and permitted the sales of Bajaj Qutean urban commercial vehicle. However, several PILs (Public Interest Litigations) were filed at various courts across the nation, seeking the ban of Qute. The PILs citied lack of safety and the vehicle was portrayed as a threat to the livelihood of auto rickshaw drivers who need to upgrade their license to be able to drive the four-wheeled Qute.

This delayed Bajaj Qute’s launch in India, which was initially planned for 2015. This prompted Bajaj to go ahead and start exports of Qute. Today, Bajaj Qute is sold in 20 countries across the globe, but not in India where it is manufactured.
