The Bajaj V special motorcycle which is made of metal salvaged from the decommissioned INS Vikrant naval aircraft carrier is all set to be launched later today. You can watch all the action live in the video link below starting from 12 Noon.
The INS Vikrant which played a major role in the Indo-Pak war in 1977 was put to rest in 2014. Bajaj bought the scrap metal with an objective of paying homage to the heritage rich vessel and the end result is the V executive commuter.
The new stand-alone brand would be retailed as a special edition until it uses the metal from INS Vikrant. Positioned between the Discover and Bajaj, the motorcycle adopts a cafe racer type design with a bikini fairing, circular headlamp, a low-set tailpiece and a long slender fuel tank. Five-twin spoke alloy wheels and a neat black silencer are the other details revealed by the teaser.
The motorcycle carries a special decal reading “Made with the invincible metal of INS Vikrant“. The specialty of the raw material aside, the Bajaj V employs conventional hardware such as a telescopic front fork, twin coil spring rear shock absorbers, front disc, rear drum, and a 150 cc air-cooled engine. More technical details will be unveiled along with the prices later today.
Stay tuned to Rushlane for a closer look at the motorcycle from the show floor.
