The Bajaj V which is made with the metal from India’s first naval aircraft carrier INS Vikrant has been launched in India. The special motorcycle also creates a new segment in the Indian two wheeler market.
The new Bajaj V15 slots between the Discover and Pulsar with its semi-long slung stance. The idea is to offer a optimum blend of practicality and sportiness. Bajaj calls the new product as Solid Commuter
The striking design derives inspiration from various military equipment. A neat bikini fairing houses a V shaped headlamp and pilot lamps. The pumped up fuel tank carries the V insignia while the seat gets pillion cover.
In order to render a tough feel, the bikes gets fatter fork and tyres than bikes on the segment. Underpinned by a double craddle frame, the V15 is powered by a 150 cc air-cooled DTSi engine which puts out 12 PS @ 7500 rpm and 13 Nm torque @ 5500 rpm. Bajaj says that the V15 is the only bike in the segment which can start from 0 kmph in any gear, with a pillion.
It gets a 240 mm disc brake in the front and a 130 mm drum brake at the rear. Front 18 inch wheel is wrapped around a 90/90 tyre, while rear 16 inch wheel is wrapped around 120/80 tyre. Fuel tank capacity of Bajaj V15 stands at 13 liters. Dimensions of Bajaj V15 – length is at 2044 mm, width is at 780 mm, height is at 1070 mm, ground clearance at 165 mm, wheelbase at 1315 mm, kerb weight at 135.5 kgs, and saddle height at 780 mm.
Further exclusivity comes from premium seat, LED taillight, instrument panel with color changing LEDs for fuel gauge. Ther is also a special momento and decals on the tank which says “Made with invincible metal of INS Vikrant”. The bike will come in tow colours Ebony black and Pearl White.
Price of Bajaj V15 will be in the range of INR 60,000 to INR 70,000. Launch / deliveries is scheduled to start from March, while production will commence from 5th Feb. Exact price and mileage will be revealed once the bike is officially launched.
