In order to further goodwill among China, Bangladesh, Myanmar and India, representatives from these countries set out a route that will take participants along the famed Southern Silk trade route from Kolkata before it culminated at Kunming, China. The route saw participants on the road for 12 days during which 9 participants will drive through scenic areas situated in these countries.
This is the first edition of the BCIM Rally and it was flagged off on the 22nd of February 2013 by Mamata Banerjee at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Smt. Mamata Banerjee hoped that this rally event will create awareness about these locations and bring trade and global investments to the region. There are about 80 representatives from these countries taking part in the rally which will take them to Kunming via Dhaka, imphal, Ka Lay, Tengchong, Dali among other locations.
The rally culminated in the Chinese city of Kunming on 5th March 2013. Rally teams drove 20 cars, of which 10 were from Tata Motors brand and 10 from Mawtai Motor Group in China. 80 reps from Bangladesh, China, India and Myanmar (BCIM) participated.
