Basecamp offers caravans in India priced from Rs 16 lakhs

Basecamp, a Mumbai based company involved in sales of various international brands such as Victorinox, Maglite and Wegner have now entered into an entirely new segment of bringing caravans to India. Two variants of caravans, Hymer Sporting 465 and Dethleffs New Line 410 TK are being offered by the company at a price of Rs 16 lakhs and  Rs 22 lakhs respectively.

Basecamp has over 15 stores in the country and they specialize in a market with various travel equipment and outdoor sports accessories. These two new caravans being offered by Basecamp is through a joint venture with two German firms Hymer and Dethleffs wherein they plan to sell around 600 caravans in the coming year.

These two caravan variants will be imported from Germany for now and Basecamp will be looking at manufacturing these in India so as to keep costs to the minimum. Investments to the tune of Rs.10 crores have been invested by the company for setting up of sales and other necessities required for sale and service of caravans in the country.

Caravans once ordered are delivered within 45 to 90 days. To ensure smooth operation and handling of caravans, Basecamp has entered into an alliance with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Haryana Tourism Corporation. BPCL will offer parking facilities for caravans within the precincts of their petrol pumps while Haryana Tourism will also offer the same services at their Yatri Nivas facilities.
