Benelli has launched the new Retro Classic Imperiale 400 in India at Rs.1.69 lakhs. It is the company’s first retro styled motorcycle in India and borrows inspiration from the Benelli-MotoBi range that was produced in the 1950s.
Benelli Imperiale 400 is presented in three colour options of red, black and silver. Only the silver colour is offered at Rs 1.69 lakhs. Other two colours are at Rs 1.79 lakhs. All prices are ex-sh. On road price in Thane for Silver is Rs 2.24 lakhs. The bike comes in with 3 year unlimited Km warranty as standard along with a 2 year complimentary service.
Where its design is concerned, the new Imperiale 400 sports a classic design with extensive use of chrome seen throughout its makeup. It gets split seats, tear drop shaped fuel tank, a twin pod instrument cluster with digital display and rides on 19” wheels in the front and 18” spoke wheels at the rear, fitted with 110/90 and 130/80 section tubed tyres. Benelli Imperiale 400 is powered by a 374cc single cylinder, air cooled engine offering 21hp at 5,000 rpm and 29Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm mated to a 5 speed gearbox. Braking is via 300mm single disc with twin piston floating calipers in the front and 240mm rear disc with dual channel ABS offered as standard. Suspension is via 41 mm telescopic fork in the front and preload adjustable dual shock absorbers at the rear.
Where overall dimensions are concerned, the new Benelli Imperiale 400 measures 2,170mm in length, 820mm in width and 1,120 mm in height. It gets a wheelbase of 1,440 mm and seat height of 780mm. Ground clearance stands at 165mm while kerb weight is at 205 kgs and fuel tank is of 12 liter capacity.
Though earlier estimates had put the Benelli Imperiale 400 in a much higher price range, the company has priced this retro bike at Rs.1.69 lakhs thanks to localized components such as wheels, tyres, brakes and electrical. It enters a segment currently commanded by the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Jawa bikes. Delivery of Benelli Imperiale will start from 27th October in India.
