Benelli owners in India get respite as DSK hands over the brand to Mahavir Group

Ongoing financial troubles at DSK Group, did put Benelli owners in a state of uncertainty, but that now seems to be a thing of the past. Benelli owners needn’t worry about DSK Motowheels’ functionality in regards to uninterrupted sales and service, as Hyderabad based Mahavir Group steps in.

DSK associated with QianJiang Group owned Benelli at the end of 2014. DSK laid out a strong business plan for India and backed it with regular launches and a growing sales and service network through 25 outlets.

Shirish Kulkarni, Chairman DSK Motowheels is in police custody over an ongoing fraud case against DSK’s parent company – DS Kulkarni Developers Ltd.

However, DSK Motowheels ran into financial trouble a few months earlier owing to bankruptcy procedure initiated at the group’s real estate endeavour. Management change sees Benelli shift its headquarters from Pune, to Hyderabad.

Mahavir Group is a dealership conglomerate, and an existing DSK Benelli dealer. A stronghold in Hyderabad and Vijayawada sees the group undertake business with Mercedes Benz, Isuzu, Skoda and Indian Motorcycles.

Before DSK controversy started, Benelli had plans to launch their Leoncino motorcycle in India.

As the company marches forward with renewed confidence, it would be great if the launch of Leoncino and TRK 502 are on track, as was oft discussed prior to the financial fiasco. Mahavir Group’s experience could lay strong footprints for the brand in this period of recuperation.

Mahavir Group is brainstorming infrastructure requirement to get on with regular sales. There’s no clarity on whether current dealers will continue to be operational or whether the group looks for new dealers, or a healthy mix of both.

Mahavir Group will set up a new plant in in Hyderabad region to manage sales, service and spares for Benelli’s customer base.
