Benelli TNT 200 makes global debut at EICMA 2017 – Rivals KTM Duke 200

Making its global debut, along with the new Benelli 302S (KTM Duke 390 rival), is the new Benelli TNT 200 has been showcased at the 2017 Milan Motorcycle Show (EICMA). The new entry level naked sportsbike from Benelli comes with a single cylinder 199.4 cc liquid cooled engine with 4 valves and DOHC setup.

Speaking about the engine output, the TNT 200’s single cylinder mill generates 21.8 PS power at 9500 rpm and 18 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. The FI engine is mated to a 6 speed gearbox. It features an electric start only, ECU is from Delphi while spark plugs are from NGK.

Features on offer include upside down forks in the front (with 120 mm travel), preload adjustable monoshock at the rear (with 45 mm travel), 260 mm single disc in the front with 4 pistons caliper, 240 mm disc at the rear with double piston caliper, (no ABS on offer), 17 inch aluminium alloys finished in matte black, 110/80 tyre in the front, 130/70 tyre at the rear, digital instrument panel, split seats, white paint with red paint on tubes and so on.

Just like the other TNT, the TNT 200 also features a Trestle in steel tubes frame. The new Benelli TNT 200 is 2050 mm long, 810 mm wide, and 1065 mm tall. It has a seat height of 780 mm, wheelbase is at 1365 mm while ground clearance is at 170 mm. It has a road ready weight of 164 kgs, and a fuel tank capacity of 13 liters.

Benelli has long been planning to launch more motorcycles in the 200 – 250 cc segment. This segment is seeing huge demand in developing countries like India. In the recent years, India has seen the launch of many 200 cc naked sportsbikes. The most popular ones in these segment currently are KTM Duke 200, Bajaj Pulsar NS 200, TVS Apache 200, Yamaha FZ25. Almost all these bikes are on sale in the range of Rs 1 to Rs 1.5 lakh.

Considering the huge demand for 200-250 cc bikes in India, we expect the new Benelli TNT 200 to be launched later next year. Here it will sit below the TNT 25 in the company line-up, which is priced at Rs 1.68 lakh, ex-showroom. Expect a price tag of under Rs 1.5 lakh for the TNT 200.
