Bentley Bentayga production starts in Crewe

The car which has been one of the reasons for Bentley making headlines in the auto industry in the past few years, Bentayga has entered production. The first unit of Bentley Bentayga rolled off the production line earlier today, at the manufacturer’s headquarters in Crewe, UK.

First shown as a concept four years ago, the Bentayga is part of an £840 million investment programme. Thanks to this, over 1,500 people have been offered job at the plant. The first deliveries of Bentayga will be made in January 2016.

Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors, said: “Bentley Bentayga will be the benchmark against which all other SUVs are measured, defining a new segment – the luxury SUV. This car is a celebration of UK manufacturing at its very best, not only reinforcing our commitment to industry in this country, job creation and significant investment, but to our home in Crewe. This is an important moment in our history, where we reflect and celebrate, but also look ahead to delivering this extraordinary car to our customers.”

UK Prime Minister David Cameron, commented: “I am delighted that the first Bentley Bentayga has rolled off the production line in Crewe. It marks the culmination of a period of exceptional hard work by Bentley and its dedicated workforce as they brought this remarkable new vehicle to market. Well done to all at Bentley. This is a moment of great pride for everyone who lives and works in Crewe.”

Bentley Bentayga is the world’s most luxurious and fastest SUV. It is powered by a 6.0 liter W12 petrol engine that delivers 608 PS power and 900 Nm torque. Mated to an intelligent all wheel drive system via 8 speed automatic transmission. Top speed is 301 kmph.

Featuring a rather simple exterior design, the level of attention to detail you will notice on the inside, is simply exceptional. And why not, after all Queen Elizabeth II is the first customer.
