India’s first 2020 Bentley Flying Spur delivered to owner in Ahmedabad

The 2020 Bentley Flying Spur packs 635bhp and a whopping 900Nm of torque in its 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 mill

The third-gen Bentley Flying Spur (MY2020) ultra-luxury saloon was unveiled to the world back in June 2019. Aimed to take on the Rolls-Royce Ghost, the latest avatar of the Flying Spur opens door to a whole range of upgrades in terms of performance, technology and, of course, opulence. In fact, the British marque claims the 2020 version of the car shares only its name with its predecessor as the chassis is entirely new.

Ever since the company started accepting orders, the Flying Spur has been receiving appreciable traction in the niche segment. For starters, the new model looks much better than its arguably-bland-looking predecessor. Now, the first 2020 Bentley Flying Spur in the country has been delivered to Deepak Mevada, an Ahmedabad-based businessman. Owing to a host of options that were ticked in addition to the loaded standard package, the on-road price hit around Rs 5.60 crore. As per reports, four examples of the car is coming to India this year.

In usual ultra-premium car ownership fashion, Deepak had to wait almost half a year to get the saloon. The order was made from the state’s premium car dealership, Red Stallion Super Cars, back in August 2019. Finished in Meteor shade (Greyish Metallic Blue that debuted with the 1998 Bentley Arnage), the saloon also sports a unique interior theme dubbed as Cricket Ball. Why? One look at the interiors would give the best explanation.

Brands coming in this category such as Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Mercedes-Maybach, BMW (‘Individual’), as well as those involved in making exclusive high-performance vehicles, virtually offer infinite combinations of colours, materials, ornaments and sophisticated equipment. For instance, the Meteor shade you see here is just one of 17 Standard colours, 14 Extended colours and a plethora of paint-to-order choices.

The 2020 Bentley Flying Spur is powered by the latest iteration of the brand’s proven 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 mill (‘V’ over ‘V’ configuration) that churns out 635bhp and 900Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic. To help manoeuvre the 5.3m long body with ease, Bentley has also equipped the 2020 Flying Spur with rear-wheel steering.

Despite weighing almost 2.5 tonnes, the Flying Spur can propel from a standstill to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds before peaking at 333km/h. Besides the W12 powertrain, the company also plans to offer 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and 3.0-litre twin-turbo hybrid V6 variants in the near future.
