Bentley Mulsanne Speed premiered at 2014 Paris Motor Show

Bentley Mulsanne Speed 02 frontMulsanne Speed is Bentley’s new flagship with distinguished 6¾ litre V8 engine, tweaked on a major scale to suit the suffix of the nameplate. The V8’s combustion system is comprehensively refurbished to boost peak power and torque. Revamp includes combustion chamber, fuel injectors, inlet ports and spark plugs among others, which has resulted in amped up compression ratio. In conjunction with new variable valve timing and fine tuned turbocharger control, the engine blasts out 537 PS (395 kW) maximum power, and 1,100 Nm peak torque from 1,750 rpm. Mulsanne Speed sprints from 0 to 100 kmph (60 mph) in 4.8 seconds and top speed of 305 kmph (190 mph) can be achieved. Despite the massive spur in power, the new Bentley records 13% hike in mileage, which means you can drive up to 80 km (50 miles) extra on a full tank.

Bentley Mulsanne Speed specificationsMated to the 6¾ litre V8 engine of Mulsanne Speed is the already familiar eight speed automatic transmission actuated by paddle shifters, but re-calibrated to utilise the excessive torque. One of its highlights is “S” driving mode, which perpetuates engine idle speed at over 2,000 rpm, to keep turbochargers at boost-ready state.
