Yamaha Fascino claimed as 7th position on the top 10 list of scooters sold during August 2015, with a total of 13,478 units sold. Yamaha Fascino which saw total sales of 10,594 units in July 2015 climbed up one spot in August, becoming the company’s best selling model in four months of launch. It is powered by the same 113cc air cooled, four stroke, single cylinder engine also powering the Yamaha Ray.
Yamaha Ray, which includes Ray and Ray Z models) on the other hand, priced at INR 47,800, stood in 8th position during the past month, with 11,865 units sold. Sales of Yamaha Fascino and Ray during August 2015 claimed 25,343 units and contributed to over 40 percent of company sales which crossed the 60,000 mark for the first time.
India’s largest two wheeler maker, Hero MotoCorp is not as prominent in the list as they would have expected. They have planned launch of two new scooters on 29th Sep 2015.Leaders on the list were Honda Activa with 2,17,819 units sold, TVS Jupiter of which 46,614 units were sold during the month and Hero Majestic with 31,562 units sold. Following these top three best sellers were Honda Dio with 19,536 units sold, Suzuki Access with 18.090 units sold and Hero Pleasure of which 15,826 units were sold during the month. At the bottom of the list in 9th and 10th spot were Honda Aviator with 9,436 units sold and TVS Scooty Zest with 8,880 unit sales in August.
Honda Activa, a leader in the scooter segment in India, has claimed a top position for the past 3 months and has seen total sales far in excess of its competitors making it the highest selling scooter in India. Honda Activa is priced from INR 46,213 while TVS Jupiter its closest competitor has a price tag starting from INR 46,614.
