Daimler India Commercial Vehicles has introduced a new range of Bharat Benz heavy duty trucks under the tagline “Profit Technology”. This range of trucks was launched at an event held at the DICV’s manufacturing plant in Oragadam near Chennai where Mr. Erich Nesselhauf, Managing Director and CEO, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles was present.
Nesselhauf also stated that the company is ready with vehicles that comply with BS IV norms and these vehicles could kick in from 2020 onwards. The new Bharat Benz heavy duty trucks are highly fuel efficient and safe and come in with best in class features. Maintenance costs are also lower and the new range consists of three product families consisting of haulage trucks, construction trucks and tractors.
The new Bharat Benz range of trucks which range from 9 to 49 have been BS IV compliant since August 2015. To date, over 1000 such trucks have been sold to customers across the country having clocked over 42 lakh kms. What appeals to customers is that the Bharat Benz BS IV vehicles also function equally efficiently with BS III fuel when required.
Bharat Benz BS IV vehicles are based on SCR technology. This technology has been widely researched and used an aqueous urea based fluid called AdBlue which when sprayed into the exhaust stream breaks down nitrogen oxide emissions into nitrogen and water. The new range of commercial vehicles also sees drastic weight reduction resulting in payload improvements to the extent of 400 kgs.
Added safety features include cruise control, LED lamps and dual changer headlamps contributing to better visibility. Reverse camera, tubeless tyres and anti lock braking system also form a part of the safety features along with several cabin improvements.
