BMW 1 Series production crosses 20 lakh units in 11 years

In summer of 2014, the BMW celebrated the tenth birthday of 1 Series. Now, less than a year later, BMW has announced one more milestone achieved by the 1 Series.

The 2 millionth unit of 1 Series.

The special car no 2 million, sporting an Estoril Blue exterior paint is a 120i 5 door hatchback. It will be making its way to a buyer in Japan. Sporting an M Sport package, the model receives a 2 liter B48 engine capable of 177 hp power and 250 Nm torque.

This announcement comes close on the heels of the market launch of new BMW 1 Series, which is scheduled for 28th March 2015. Officially revealed in January this year, 2015 1 Series facelift improvements in the exteriors and interior design. It also features a host of infotainment and technology features in addition to the design changes.

Other highlights will include an iDrive operating system, full LED headlights, BMW ConnectedDrive, radar based Active Cruise Control system, Stop/Go function and Parking Assistant while camera based Driving Assistant will also be seen. Features will also include Emergency Call function and BMW TeleServices while as an option, Navigation System professional will also be on offer which will be free of charge to customers for the first three years.

The new BMW 1 Series three door production will take place at the BMW Regensburg plant while the 5 door will roll out from both Regensburg and the company’s second plant in Leipzig. Buyers will be offered a choice between diesel and gasoline engines ranging from three to six cylinders.
