BMW Motorrad’s new entry-level model, the F 450 GS, is expected to be offered at a starting price of around Rs 4.50 lakh
At the 2025 EICMA, BMW had showcased the all-new F 450 GS adventure tourer bike. A global launch is imminent, as production has already commenced at the TVS facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The bike will be manufactured exclusively in India and exported to more than 100 markets. Launch in India is also expected soon. Let’s check out the details.
BMW F 450 GS India launch timeline
Earlier, it was being speculated that the BMW F 450 GS will be launched at the upcoming IBW 2025 (India Bike Week). This event is scheduled to be held on December 19-20 at Panchgani, Maharashtra. However, latest reports indicate that BMW F 450 GS could be launched in India in early 2026. It is possible that the bike could be launched in January to latch on to the New Year fervour.
BMW F 450 GS will work as a replacement for the discontinued G 310 GS. The new GS highlights the successful partnership between BMW and TVS, an alliance that has evolved and strengthened continuously since 2013. A major milestone was registered recently when the 200,000th motorcycle rolled out from the TVS plant, as part of the partnership.
Earlier, it was also reported that unofficial bookings for BMW F 450 GS have commenced at select dealerships. The booking amount varies in the range of Rs 10k to 25k, depending on the dealership. It is possible that early adopters could get priority in delivery at the dealer level.
Upon launch, BMW F 450 GS will take on rivals such as Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure and Honda NX500. The Himalayan will continue to be the most accessible in this segment, currently offered at a starting price of Rs 3.06 lakh. KTM 390 Adventure is available at a starting price of Rs 3.95 lakh. Honda NX500 comes with a price tag of Rs 6.33 lakh.
BMW F 450 GS – Performance, specs, features
In its concept form, the bike was presented with a 450 cc engine. However, the production version comes with a 420 cc engine. But performance figures remain unchanged at 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a constant-mesh 6-speed gearbox. The lower displacement could have been finalized to achieve improved efficiency, lower emissions and enhanced fuel economy.
One of the standout features of the bike worth trying is the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC). This allows both automatic and manual clutch operations, depending on how the user chooses to operate it. By default, the ERC allows automatic clutch operations. But riders can engage the clutch anytime they want, without any performance issues. The ERC is especially designed to suit the needs of new riders.
BMW F 450 GS offers various other advanced tech features. For example, the bike has Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), ABS Pro and engine drag torque control (MSR). Users can choose from ride modes of Rain, Road and Enduro. Tech package includes a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen, which displays a range of information including turn-by-turn navigation.
