India-made BMW G310GS launched in Indonesia – Apprx Rs 45k more expensive than G310R

BMW G 310 GS is the second product to come out of the BMW-TVS technology cooperation agreement, the first two being the BMW G 310 R. Made in India, the motorcycle has been launched in many markets across the world. In India, it will be launched later this year, after it makes its debut at the 2018 Auto Expo.

Recently BMW G310GS was launched in Indonesia, for an approximate price tag of IDR 125 million. It has also been launched in Japan where the price starts from 6.7 lakh yen, which is approximately Rs 3.82 lakh. This is about Rs 45-50k more expensive than the G310R. Both, G310R and G310GS will be launched in India later this year. As they are made in India, expect price tag to be in the range of Rs 3 lakh.

Like its naked sibling, the new adventure tourer has been developed by BMW Motorrad in Germany and built by TVS Motor Co. in India (Hosur plant). As per export data, TVS has started exporting the adventure tourer version to not only Europe, but also to many more developed countries, including Japan and Indonesia. Surprisingly, the bike is not yet launched in India.

The BMW G310GS shares many components with the G310R. This helps the manufacturing costs low, and price of the bike competitive. The new Bimmer features a long travel suspension system in the front, special off-road tyres, and a design which has transcended from the BMW GS big bikes.

The 313 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine and the 6-speed manual transmission delivers 34 PS and 28 Nm of torque. It weighs 170 kgs and has a fuel tank capacity of 11 liters. Mileage claimed stands at over 30 kmpl.

The BMW G 310 GS is pitted against the likes of upcoming KTM 390 Adventure, Kawasaki Versys 250, Suzuki VStrom 250.
