BMW G310R, G310GS being sold at discounts of up to Rs 70k – No handling charges

BMW G310R and G310GS, the company’s newest entrants into the sub 500cc segments, were launched in India in July 2018. Though these two are the most affordable BMW bikes, their prices were more than expected.

In fact, these two bikes were priced higher in India, than in the US – in spite of they being made in India, and exported to the US. Launch price of G310R was Rs 3.78 lakh on road, and that of G310GS was Rs 4.35 lakh on road.

This resulted in lower than expected sales. With the year 2018 coming to an end, BMW Motorrad dealers across India are selling these two bikes at huge discounts. Some are even selling it at Rs 70,000 discount.

With these discounts the BMW G310R and the G310GS cost around Rs.3 lakhs and Rs.3.70 lakhs respectively. The benefits include cash discounts, free insurance, no handling charges, and free accessories are on offer at all dealerships. While the Bengaluru dealers are offering discounts of Rs.40,000, dealers in Kerala are offering cash discounts and benefits upto Rs.70,000 while dealers in North and West India offer financial options at lower rates of interest along with cash discounts.

BMW G310R and G310GS are designed and developed in Munich, Germany. They are made by TVS in India. Though the two bikes sport similar features and share engine specifications, they are notably different in the fact that BMW G 310 R is a naked roadster, while the BMW G 310 GS is an adventure tourer.

The bikes are positioned on a steel trellis chassis with sub frame, get similar engine, features and braking systems while differences lie in the fact that the BMW G 310 GS gets 19” front and 17” rear Metzeler Tourance tyres and the BMW G310R sports 17” light alloy wheels fitted with road based Michelin tyres.

Engine specifications on the BMW G310R and G310GS include a 313.2cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine offering 34 hp power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm torque at 7,500 rpm mated to a 6 speed transmission. Acceleration from 0 to 50 kmph is achieved in 2.5 seconds while top speed is at 143 kmph.
