BMW G310R, G310GS for India with saree guard – Spied before launch

BMW Motorrad India is all set to launch two of the most awaited motorcycles – G310R and G310GS. These two motorcycles are already on sale in global markets.

BMW G310R, a naked street bike and BMW G310GS, an adventure tourer, will launch in India on 18th July 2018. They are engineered and developed by BMW Germany and are produced at the TVS Motor plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Both these bikes will be sold via BMW Motorrad dealerships in India.

Ahead of official launch, G310R and G310GS India-spec variants have been spied at dealerships. These bikes are spotted with saree guard, which is a compulsory accessory in India so as to get the motorcycle registered from local RTO.

Both, BMW G310R and G310GS share about 90 percent in parts. But, are built for different purposes. G310GS receives more styling with well sculpted tank shrouds, a larger windscreen and better ergonomics. Being an adventure tourer, it also receives a belly pan and a tail rack. GS also gets a longer suspension, larger front wheels and dual purpose tyres.

Both bikes are positioned on a steel trellis frame. They receive USD front forks and monoshock at the rear with adjustable overload, and disc brakes at the front and rear.

Powering the two bikes is a 313cc, liquid cooled, fuel injected, single cylinder engine capable of 34 PS peak power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm peak torque at 7,500 rpm mated to a 6 speed transmission. This is the same engine that is on offer on a TVS Apache 310. Fuel efficiency is pegged at 30 kmpl, while top speed could stand at 145 kmph.

No pricing details have been revealed as on date. Estimates put the BMW G 310 R at around Rs 3.5 lakhs, while the price of G 310 GS could go up to Rs 4 lakhs. Bookings have opened at a down payment of Rs 50,000.
