Launch of BMW G310R will take place in October this year.

A global motorcycle, the new BMW G310R will be produced in India at TVS Motor plant in Hosur near Bangalore. The smallest capacity BMW motorcycle in recent years, the made-in-India G310R will also be exported to Europe, Australia, and other countries in Asia.

BMW G310R is the first product to be built under the BMW-TVS JV which was formed a couple of years ago. This JV will see the launch of new-age BMW and TVS motorcycles in the sub 500 cc segment.

Already spied on test in India, BMW G310R was first showcased last year in Brazil. It is powered by a 313 cc single cylinder liquid cooled engine which delivers 34 PS power and 28 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed gearbox.

Inspired from a stunt bike concept, BMW G310R features a short wheelbase and an aggressive stance. It has been made to traverse through the urban jungle of today without much fuss, and also to take on those twisties during the wekends.

Highlights of the G310R are – upside-down front forks, mono-shock rear suspension, fully digital instrument control, LED side indicators, 17 inch alloys wrapped with Metzeler tyres and so on.

Once launched, BMW G310R will take on the likes of KTM Duke 390, Mahindra Mojo and the Honda CBR250R. Priced in the UK from £4,290, price in India is expected to be in the range of INR 1.8 lakh.

What happened to that Apache RTR 200 FI and ABS versions?
I doubt if even the basic is there in the market.
They didn’t even updated the price in their official website.

    • Last we heard, they are controlling production so as to offer top quality. Which is why launch is delayed. Though some cities have started selling the FZ and ABS variants.

That is one kind of answer i never heard anyone say. So do that mean TVS is testing in any sense, may be double checking is everything good so that their reputation don’t go down the drain. Some are saying the producing underwent some difficulties due to G310 but i am not buying it.

Also its great TVS and Yamaha enters into a joint venture to sell FZ’s. Yummy tea… hmmm….

        • Yea, that is what the TVS guy meant. Double/triple checking everything that is produced. Last I heard, about 40-50 units of Apache 200 were being produced in a day.

Great info Sagar. Some websites reported the production delayed due to G310 tooling is in place. I wondered how can (may be) the worlds third largest two wheeler maker, TVS struggle with the production capacity for manufacturing their indigenous flag ship model? The 200 will fetch more sales then G310. With a huge public demand for this model, its sad that they take such long time to bring this out but at the same time its blissful to hear they are testing it themselves instead of testing it on the buyers. Bajaj would have launched all variants possible on Feb 2016 itself.
