The BMW G310R street fighter which is in production at TVS’ Hosur plant has been photographed recently. The motorcycles order books in some European markets like the UK, Germany, Switzerland are open and the prices have been announced.
Made in India for global consumption, the most affordable BMW motorcycle will be sold in several other international markets but in a phased manner.
The street fighter’s launch timeframe for India is not entirely clear as of now but BMW is likely to cater to Europe with its initial production and focus on India once the production is ramped up and new outlets are in place.
To recap, the BMW G310R is the first product to come out of TVS-BMW technology co-operation agreement which was formed to come up with sub-500 cc platforms for both brands. The G310R’s TVS cousin will be a fully faired motorcycle which was previewed by the Akula 310 concept.
The BMW G310R is powered by a 313 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which is rated at 34 PS and 28 Nm of torque. Transmission is a 6-speed unit. The motorcycle gets an upside down telescopic front fork, rear monoshock, single disc brake at each wheel with ABS and tyres that are specially developed by Michelin.
The BMW G310R will rival the KTM Duke 390, Kawasaki Z250 and several other products in the INR 1.5-2.0 lakh price bracket.
