Rinspeed unveils BMW i8 based Etos Concept hybrid sports car (60 Photos)

Following its showcasing in concept format in October this year, BMW i8 based Etos hybrid sports car concept is set to make its official debut at the CES 2016 in Las Vegas.

Consumer Electronics Show 2016 slated for January 6-9, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada will be launch pad for the new Rinspeed BMW i8 based Etos (?tos) hybrid sports car concept.

Speaking about the new concept, externally the Etos does not deviate much from BMW i8 in looks, interiors are somewhat different. The steering wheel folds in half and retracts into the dash thus offering the driver more room for autonomous driving while there are two curved 21.5” ultra HD screens that are adjustable for better viewing.

Rinspeed BMW i8 based Etos hybrid sports car concept boasts of a drone complete with landing pad at the rear with 12,000 LED lights. This works via a Harmon Connected Car Infotainment System which obeys each command and offers information to driver and occupants.

The system is controlled by voice, gestures and touch inputs. A total of 8 HD exterior cameras ensure timely monitoring of car surroundings giving 180 degree panoramic views both of the front and rear of the vehicle. This also operates as exterior mirrors offering expanded field of view and automatically detecting people or animals.

Externally resembling the BMW i8 in all respects, Rinspeed BMW i8 based Etos hybrid sports car concept sits on 20” Borbet GTX aluminum rims. It receives ceramic and metal alloys that have been put through temperature above 20,000 degrees Celsius.
