BMW India posts 11% growth – Sells 7,424 cars, 1,038 motorcycles

BMW Group India has posted strong growth and announced sales of 7,915 units during the January to September period registering growth of 11%. This includes sales of BMW as well as MINI brand. Speaking about the BMW brand alone, its sales stood at 7,424 units – clocking 9% growth as compared to sales during the same period of 2017

While the company also sold 491 units of MINI branded cars clocking growth to the extent of 58% as compared to last year. BMW Motorrad, the company’s two wheeler arm, sold 1,038 motorcycles during the first nine months of this fiscal year. This was following the highly anticipated launch of BMW G310R and BMW G310GS in India in the third quarter.

BMW India Financial Services has also played an important role in increasing sales by offering innovative and flexible financial solutions to customers, thus easing the cost of ownership. MINI also noted increased sales with a fresh portfolio that included the new MINI Hatch and MINI Convertible. The new MINI Countryman is now locally assembled which has made it more affordable thus contributing to growth.

New 3 Series is expected to launch next year.

Continuing its commitment to the India market, BMW Group has added a petrol variant to the BMW X1, one of its most popular offerings in the country. Priced at Rs 37.50 lakhs, the 2018 BMW X1 sDrive20i is positioned higher than the sDrive20d Expedition diesel offering which is priced at Rs 34.40 lakhs.

Bookings open at company showrooms across the country while deliveries are slated to commence soon. The range topper is the xDrive20d M Sport priced at Rs 44.50 lakhs. 2018 BMW X1 sDrive20i competes with Audi Q3 30TFSI and Mercedes Benz GLA200 Sport.
