BMW K 1600 B makes global debut – 1,649 cc, 160 PS

BMW Motorrad has showcased the new BMW K 1600 B at the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles as a part of the company’s Vision 100 presentations. K 1600 B is BMW’s latest straight six motorcycle. It is powered by a liquid cooled 1,649cc engine offering 160 PS power and 129 lb/ft torque.

New BMW K 1600 B gets electronic suspension with adaptive dampers, which along with a Dynamic Traction Control system offers two riding modes of Road and Cruise. While Road setting is fully automated to take on varied traction and can adapt to road surface changes, Cruise offers a more comfortable ride.

BMW K 1600 B is ideally suited for long distance riding. It gets a 5.7” TFT instrument cluster which takes care of all the information sharing between the rider and the motorcycle. In the event of an accident, Intelligent Emergency Call is available wherein the system automatically sends position of the bike to emergency services via BMW’s call center.

On board comfort features include foot rests, optimum handlebar and seat position and better ergonomics. Set height can be adjusted while heated handle grips, dual passenger seat heating and cruise control are also a part of its features.

In terms of design and looking striking in Blackstorm metallic with red accents K 1600B takes the form of a bagger, a custom bike type that is popular across the US. It receives streamline styling and chrome plated silencers which run parallel to the road while its fairing and dynamic windscreen not only offers protection from wind and weather but adds to a more aggressive stance of the bike.

BMW Motorrad is scheduled to start India operations in a few weeks time. This new motorcycle should be on sale in India by late next year.
