German motorcycle marquee, BMW Motorrad is all set to start it’s India business from next month. They have already shortlisted the first lot of dealers who will sell the entire range of BMW Motorrad, from G310R to the K1600.
Aiming to become a major player in the premium motorcycle segment in India, BMW Motorrad will import bikes which are assembled at their plant in Thailand thus entailing lower duties and freight charges, as compared to importing the bikes from Europe.
The bikes which will be imported into India include S1000R, S1000RR, S1000XR, F700GS, F800GS, F800R, R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure. While premium offerings such as BMW R Nine T and BMW K1600GTL will be imported into India directly from the company’s manufacturing facility in Berlin in Germany.
The highlight of their launch will be new BMW G310R. Made in India by TVS Motor at their plant in Hosur, G310R will be the most affordable BMW bike on offer with price expected to start in the INR 2 lakh range.
Powered by an all new 313 cc, four stroke single cylinder engine generating 34 bhp power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm torque at 7,500 rpm, via a 6 speed gearbox. Features on offer includes, dual channel ABS, upside down forks, digital instrument control, Michelin tyres, monoshock rear suspension, LED taillights and side blinkers, and much more. The bike has already entered production at the TVS Motor plant in Hosur with India launch and exports to commence soon.
