India Bike Week 2017 was the venue for the launch of new BMW RnineT Racer. This classic racer comes in with a design that borrows inspiration from the legendary superbikes of the 1970s and sports an amalgamation of both sporty performance and contemporary technology which is sure to attract the attention of buyers in the country.
BMW RnineT Racer was officially launched in the country along with the BMW K 1600 B, both of which are variant of two bikes already available in India – 1600 GTL and RnineT.
The RnineT Racer is available in Light White non-metallic paintwork with the frame finished in Aluminium Silver. It receives sporty appeal with classic half fairing and low slung clip on handlebars. Footpegs are set towards the rear and the bike receives a twin pod instrument cluster with analogue speedometer and tachometer.
The on-board computer screen also displays vital information such as time, active gear, trip distance, range, service updates, speed and fuel consumption. Suspension is via conventional 43mm telescopic fork and four piston calipers and the bike sits on 17” cast alloy wheels. In terms of safety, the BMW RnineT Racer comes in with floating brake discs, ABS and Automatic Stability Control which prevents the rear wheel from spinning even on slippery road conditions.
BMW RnineT Racer is powered by a 1170cc, air cooled, boxer twin engine offering peak power of 110 hp at 7,750 rpm and 116 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm. It will be on sale across all BMW Motorrad dealerships in India on order basis. The bike will be brought in as a completely built up unit (CBU) and will have a price tag of INR 17.30 lakhs.
