BMW R1200 R, R1200 RS, R1200 RT – Launch, Price, Specs

BMW Motorrad is finally here in India with their range of GS, R, S and K Series bikes. Speaking about their R 1200 range, this is what is on offer in India. BMW R 1200 R, R 1200 RS, and R 1200 RT.

Speaking about the BMW R 1200 R, it exudes dynamism and rider comforts along with the best in touring capabilities. It is built on a rigid tubular steel frame and gets upside down telescopic for in the front and EVO Paralever at the rear. New air intakes and central radiator are evident while seating position is also more upright offering better riding stance specially for longer distances.

It sits on 10 spoke light weight cast wheels, gets dynamic traction control and the latest generation dynamic electronic suspension adjustment along with a powerful braking system with radial four piston calipers and ABS offered as standard.

The instrument cluster seen in the R 1200 R reveals a wide range of functions and information. The R 1200 R gets its power from a flat twin engine offering 125 hp power at 7,750 rpm and 125 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm. It is available in 3 trims – Standard, Exclusive and Style, respectively priced at INR 14.9 lakh, INR 15.4 lakh, INR 15.5 lakh, ex-showroom.

BMW R 1200 RS sports tourer is powered by a flat twin engine as is seen on the R 1200 R counterpart offering 125 hp power at 7,750 rpm and 125 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm. This is also the same engine seen on the R 1200 GS, R 1200 GS Adventure but with torque increased at low revs. It is offered in two trims – Standard and Dynamic+, respectively priced at INR 15.90 lakh and INR 16.90 lakh, ex-showroom.

The bike gets new air intakes, a centrally positioned radiator and a modified airbox. It is positioned on a tubular steel bridge frame with its engine as a self supporting system. Upside down telescopic fork and EVO Paralever are offered at the front and rear respectively. Safety features include dynamic traction control, automatic stability control and the R 1200 RS cones equipped with two riding modes of Rain and Road.

BMW R 1200 RT gets its power from the same engine seen on the above two models. It gets new color options, a new chassis, added body work and an adjustable windshield. A new headlamp, LED daytime running lights and a multifunction instrument cluster is also evident. It is offered in two trims, Standard and Pro – respectively priced at INR 18.5 lakh and INR 21.90 lakh, ex-shoroom.
