BMW to launch Electric Vehicle brand for Chinese auto market
BMW along with Brilliance Jinbei Automobiles of China will be launching a new brand of electric vehicles in the country. China’s new joint venture rules will ensure that this new brand is seen in Chinese markets and will be using electric engines currently being developed by the company.

Mr. Ian Robertson, BME Chief of Sales and Marketing, said that as it is a legislative requirement, these electric vehicles would be launched in Chinese markets. The new joint venture BMW-Brilliance would be launching electric vehicles and would also look towards expanding their export operations.

BMW along with Brilliance have also showcased a concept Plug In Hybrid 5 Series at the Shanghai Auto Show. They also have plans of bringing in an i3 electric vehicle in 2013 along with an i8 Plug In in 2014.Robertson said that the company has recognized the growing Chinese auto markets which will become the largest in the world though they have yet to get an international brand of Chinese origin.
