It was on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at exactly 12:08, 8 years since the BMW Welt opened, that its 20 millionth visitor walked through the door. Christoph Wald and his family were unaware of what was in store. But they soon realized how important they were on that day inside BMW Welt.
BMW had called upon Mayor of Munich, Dieter Reiter to greet the 20 millionth customer. Apart from being greeted by the Mayor, all four members of the Wald family were also surprised to receive video congratulations from across the globe.
Wald, his wife Stefanie and children Alina and Fabian will never forget this unique experience. As a special mark of being the 20 millionth visitor, Wald was handed over the keys to the new BMW X1 which he can use for a period of 1 year. The keys were presented to Weld by Marco Wittmann, the current German Touring Car Masters (DTM) champion.
