Of these 25, 10 models will be completely new, including the X4. BMW X4 will be based on X3 architecture. In a way, the X4 will be to the X3 what X6 is to the X5, seen with similar underpinnings and powertrain options.
The upcoming BMW X4 will measure close to 4.65 meters and will be offered in a choice of four / six cylinder diesel / petrol engines also seen on the X3. All models will be fitted with a host of fuel saving accessories from the Efficient Dynamics range which include start stop systems, brake energy recuperation and augmented aerodynamics.
Apart from this, at the meeting, BMW also revealed that the production of their all new electric car, i3 commenced in January this year in Leipzig. This electric mini car is ready to make its way into markets for which the company has already received hundreds of advance orders. The new i3 mini will not possess front wheel drivetrains as is seen in Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt plug ins. Rather, this i3 will have an aft mounted power package to drive its rear wheels.
