Bosch’s newest plant was opened at State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) Gangaikondan, Tamil Nadu, spanning 6,500 square metres of built up area. The new Bosch Gasoline System facility caters to its Gasoline Systems business with increased localisation for improved cost-competitiveness.
An investment of about 500 million INR (6.2 million euro) has been made. Dr. Steffen Berns, Managing Director of Bosch Limited says it’s important for its Gasoline Systems business division to have a strong manufacturing footprint in a growth market like India. Extended local production at Gangaikondan helps Bosch Gasoline Systems to further grow its market share across a competitive product portfolio.
Dr. Stefan Kampmann, Executive Vice President, Bosch Gasoline Systems, Franz Hauber, Executive Vice President, Manufacturing and Quality, Bosch Limited and Sandeep N, Regional President Gasoline Systems, Bosch Limited inaugurated the plant on 22nd January. Important for Bosch’s strategy to enter the India two-wheeler market with Electronic Fuel Injection systems, the SIPCOT facility will manufacture power train sensors, fuel delivery modules and air management components for automotive and two-wheeler systems. Till date, Gasoline Systems division shared the Bosch Naganathapura manufacturing facility for local production.
