In a bid to strengthen its footprint across the country, Bosch has opened its 14th state of the art manufacturing facility. The new plant in Bidadi, Karnataka, is from where the company will be manufacturing products for its Diesel Systems Division and into which investment to the extent of INR 3,400 million (or INR 340 crores) has been undertaken.
Spread over an area of 38,000 sq mtrs, the new Bidadi plant is a part of the company plan to expand its footprint across the country and to contribute to it two fold sales targets in Asia Pacific by 2020. Once completed Bosch India would have over 2,600 associates working at the facility.
The inauguration ceremony of Bosch India Bidadi plant was attended by Mr. Siddaramaiah, CM of Karnataka, Mr. R. V. Deshpande, Minister for Industries, Mrs. Ratnaprabha, Addl Chief Secretary – Department of Industries and Mr. Peter Tyroller, Member Board of Management, Robert Bosch GmbH along with Dr. Steffen Berns, President Bosch Group India and Managing Director, Bosch Limited.
Construction will be conducted in two phases and slated to be completed by 2018. Bosch will be applying for Industry 4.0 connected industry so as to optimise manufacturing processes and prevent disruptions in processes while the plant will also see new standards in parts handling and movement of materials.
