BS4 vehicles can be legally registered till 31st March 2020 after which only BS6 products can be sold in the country

The stringent BS6 emission deadline draws closer and automakers in the country are eager to clear out existing BS4 stocks. Every Indian automaker is offering hefty discounts on BS4 vehicles but it should be noted that these offers are at the dealership level and could hence vary from dealer to dealer. It should also be kept in mind that registration of BS4 vehicles is only accepted till 31st March 2020 while the new emission norms come into effect from 1st April 2020.

The discounts vary from as low as Rs 10,000 for the Ford Figo and go up to a massive Rs 31.40 lakh on the Jaguar XJ sedan. Along with these cash discounts, company dealers are also including loyalty benefits, corporate discounts and attractive financial schemes along with exchange offers. A breakdown of each automaker and the discounts offered on each variant is given below:

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the leader in the passenger segment is offering discounts and benefits on their range of small cars such as the BS4 Alto, Celerio, Swift and Dzire. The discounts start off at Rs 78,900 on the Dzire, Rs 72,700 on the Swift and Rs 43,100 on the Celerio. The Alto and WagonR are also offered at discounts of Rs 45,600 and Rs 33,100, respectively while NEXA dealerships are offering Rs 20,000 off for the Ertiga and Rs 35,000 off on the Baleno. The Ignis, S-Cross and Ciaz also get discounts worth Rs 40,000, 75,000 and 40,000, respectively.

Hyundai Motors India Limited, the country’s second-largest automaker, has recently introduced the Aura compact-sedan in India while the new Grand i10 NIOS hatchback and Venue subcompact SUV were launched earlier. The automaker is keen to clear out BS4 stocks of the Tucson, Xcent, Santro, Creta, Grand i10, Elite and Verna, They are offered at hefty discounts ranging from Rs 55,000 on the Santro and Rs 65,000 on the Elite i20 to Rs 2.50 lakh on the Tucson and Elantra. However, models such as the Kona electric and Venue do no get any discount.

Tata Motors is offering discounts on BS4-compliant Hexa and Harrier up to Rs 2 lakh and 1.30 lakh, respectively. Meanwhile, the Tata Nexon, Tiago and Tigor discounts extend up to Rs 55,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 70,000, respectively. The BS4-compliant Tata Safari Storme, Zest and Bolt are also available at discounts of Rs 55,000, Rs 90,000 and Rs 80,000.

Mahindra is all set to bring in a range of facelifts and next-generation models in the months ahead. The company is offering big discounts on its current crop of cars. The Alturas G4’s discounts extend up to Rs 4 lakh. The Mahindra Marazzo BS4 is at a discount of Rs 1.71 lakh while the XUV500 and TUV300 are offered at discounts of Rs 84,000 and Rs 70,000, respectively. Discounts for the Scorpio and Bolero stand at Rs 60,000 and Rs 47,000, respectively.

Renault India is planning an onslaught into the Sedan/SUV segment in the coming financial year. It may be recalled that the company was the sole positive performer in the Indian auto segment, with an 8 per cent increase in sales at 88,869 units as compared to the sales in the previous year. Renault models on discount include the Kwid, Duster, Lodgy, Captur and Duster AWD with price reductions ranging from Rs 64,000 on the Kwid to Rs 2.30 lakh for the Duster and Captur.

Honda Cars India, having experienced a 71 per cent decline in January 2020 sales is ramping up BS6 production. The company has completed dispatches of BS4 stocks to dealers and has less than a week’s stock of BS4 models left at their dealership networks. The dealership discounts extend to Rs 5 lakh on the Honda CR-V, Rs 2.50 lakh on the Honda Civic and Rs 72,000 on the City. The Jazz, WR-V and Amaze are at discounts of Rs 50,000, Rs 45,000 and Rs 42,000, respectively.

Nissan India gears up for the launch of its upcoming compact SUV codenamed EM2. In a bid to clear out BS4 stocks, the company is offering the Nissan Kicks a discount of Rs 1.60 lakh and the Micra and Micra Active hatchbacks; Rs 71,500.

The BS4-compliant models of Datsun RediGo, Go and Go+ are available at discounts of Rs 83,000-63,000. The company is actively testing their new 2020 Datsun redi-GO for which both its 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engine lineup will be updated to BS6 emission standards.

Toyota BS4 Discounts

Toyota Kirloskar Motors is also keen to clear out BS4 stocks. The biggest discounts are on the Yaris and Corolla, extending to Rs 55,000 and Rs 75,000, respectively while the Etios and Etios Liva are offered with around Rs 35,000 off.

Jeep Compass BS4 Discounts

The Jeep Compass BS4 model is being sold at a discount of Rs 2 lakh while the automaker updates all its variants to BS6 emission norms. The Sport, Limited and Limited Option variants have been discontinued. The update to BS6 norms has seen a price increase with the Jeep Compass range.

Skoda, VW, Ford BS4 Discounts

While Skoda, Volkswagen and Ford are also offering varied discounts on their range of BS4 models, premium luxury car brands such as Audi, Mercedes, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, and BMW that are also offering huge discounts of up to Rs 31.40 lakh. Again, the rate of discounts depends on the dealership.

Mercedes, Audi, JLR BS4 Discounts

The Mercedes-Benz GLS Grand Edition and E Class E220D are at discounts of Rs 19.50 and Rs 10 lakh, respectively. Jaguar Land Rover’s BS4 lineup includes the XJ L 2.0 offered at a discount of Rs 31.40 lakh, the XF Portfolio and F-Pace at an equal discount of Rs 12 lakh. The figures go up to Rs 10 lakh on the Jaguar XE F-Type 2.0 Coupe and Discovery Sport. The BS4 Land Rover Autobiography is at a discount of Rs 15 lakh while the Evoque gets Rs 9 lakh off.

BMW, Volvo BS4 Discounts

The BMW India model lineup of 3 Series, 5 Series and 6 Series Grand Turismo can be had at discounts of Rs 1.60 lakh, Rs 3.60 lakh and Rs 3.50 lakh, respectively. On the other hand, Audi India is offering discounts of Rs 7.50 lakh on the Audi A4 pre-facelift model and Rs 6 lakh on the Q5 and Q7.

The BS4-compliant Volvo XC90 and XC60 are at discounts of Rs 14 lakh. The company’s entire range is now BS6 compliant and facelifts of the S90, V90 and V90 Cross Country facelift have been unveiled globally.
