After months of waiting, Force Motors has finally launched the BS6 Trax Cruiser and BS6 Trax Toofan in India
With the shift to BS6 norms earlier this year, Indian auto industry saw many vehicles getting discontinued. Most were updated to BS6 norms, and continued to be on sale. Some had plans to shift to BS6, but could not, probably due to the ongoing Pandemic.
After unveiling their BS6 Force Trax passenger carriers at the 2020 Auto Expo in Feb this year, the Pune based company had not launched them, until now. Force Motors has announced launch of BS6 Trax.
The 2020 Force Trax will be available in four variants – Trax Cruiser, Trax Cruiser Deluxe, Trax Toofan and Trax Toofan Deluxe. The difference between Deluxe and non Deluxe variant is that one has AC and the other has no AC. Prices start from Rs 10.9 lakhs, ex-sh. Apart from getting a BS6 engine – Updated Trax variants come with a more powerful engine, new longer and wider body, new premium interiors, new safety features like ABS with EBD and a new chassis. Below are variant wise prices of new Force Trax BS6.
1 – Cruiser (9+D) – Rs 10.9 lakh
2 – Cruiser Deluxe (9+D) – Rs 12.68 lakh
3 – Cruiser (12+D) – Rs 11.08 lakh
4 – Cruiser Deluxe (12+D) – Rs 12.78 lakh
5 – Toofan (11+D) – Rs 10.96 lakh
6 – Toofan Deluxe (11+D) – Rs 12.73 lakh

In terms of design and dimensions, all four variants are same – except for the stickers on the name exteriors. Length is 5120 mm, width is 1818 mm, height is 2027 mm, wheelbase is 3050 mm while laden ground clearance is 160 mm. Tyres 215/75 section, wrapped around 15 inch wheels. Fuel tank capacity is 63.5 liters.
Engine
Powering the BS6 Force Trax is a new 2.6 liter, 4 cylinder, common rail diesel engine derived from Mercedes engine. This engine is rated to deliver 90hp @ 3200 rpm of power and 250 Nm of torque @ 1400-2400 rpm. Transmission is via 5 speed gearbox. Below is a detailed look at the specs sheet of BS6 Force Trax.
Built on a C in C section type chassis, front axle is independent while rear gets a beam axle unit. Suspension system in the front is via independent double wishbone, while at the rear BS6 Trax gets leaf spring unit. Steering is now power assisted. All variants get ABS with EBD as standard. Front gets disc brakes while rear gets drum brakes. There is no mention of airbags or rear parking sensors in the official brochure.
Interiors
With the BS6 Trax, Force claims to have updated the interiors completely. There are new seats, new dashboard, new instrument cluster. Interiors are done up in dual tone colour of black and brown. Instrument cluster has speedometer and tachometer in big circular dials. Fuel level, engine temperature and other indicators are also present.
Seating capacity on offer changes with the type of variant. BS6 Trax Cruiser comes with two seating capacity options of 12+D (driver) and 9+D. The former gets bench seats in the last row, while the latter gets front facing 3 rows of seating. BS6 Trax Toofan is offered with 11+D seating option only.
