As two wheeler manufacturers in India gear up to meet the 1st April 2020 deadline for BS6 compliant engines, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has launched their first 125cc BS6 motorcycle in India today. The new Honda SP 125 BS6 claims to be the start of what Honda has termed as Quiet Revolution.
It is only called Honda SP 125, unlike the BS4 variant, which was called CB Shine SP 125. This BSVI compliant motorcycle comes with 19 new patent applications. It brings together advanced tech, style, comfort and convenience. Production is underway, and the motorcyle will be dispatched to dealerships by the end of November 2019.
With HET (Honda Eco Technology) now powered by eSP (enhanced smart power), in its new avatar, Honda SP 125 BS6 comes with silent start owing to its ACG starter, which functions differently than a conventional starter motor. Below is the LIVE video launch of the new Honda CB SP 125 BS6 motorcycle. Skip to 27 minute, which is when the presentation starts.
Optimised performance with friction reduction is matched with low emission and better mileage. A fully digital meter features average mileage, real time mileage, Distance to Empty, gear position indicator, Eco indicator, and service due indicator. Those being a number of segment first features.
Among it’s patents and updates are an equalizer with CBS, a stylish muffler with muffler cover, seal chain and new engine components. The company has developed HET tubeless tyres for the bike. Exterior design updates include an aggressive tank design, edgy graphics, bold rear stance, new LED headlamp design, sporty split alloy wheels, and chrome muffler cover. The handlebar houses an engine start/stop switch, and an integrated headlamp beam and passing switch.
