BS6 Maruti S-Cross Petrol Bookings Open At Rs 11,000 Across India

Maruti S-Cross petrol will be launched in the coming days – as a rival to Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos

Maruti Suzuki India today announced that they have opened bookings for their petrol S-Cross. First launched in 2015, S-Cross was on sale in India only with diesel engine option. It was on sale till earlier this year, and was then discontinued. As Maruti has decided not to update their diesel engines to BS6 standard.

At the Auto Expo 2020 in February, Maruti showcased the S-Cross petrol to the world. This was the first time S-Cross was seen with a petrol engine in India. Now the same is open for bookings as launch is in a few days.

Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “S-Cross enjoys a special place in the NEXA portfolio as its flagship product and has been appreciated by over 1.25 lakh customers for its premium interiors, stylish and masculine design. We are delighted to announce the commencement of bookings for the S-Cross Petrol. With our relentless innovations, we are optimistic that the S-Cross Petrol will be yet another testament for our customer’s confidence and trust.”

Engine Specs

Powering the BS6 Maruti S-Cross Petrol variant will be a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder engine, which already powers other Maruti cars like Ciaz, Ertiga and Brezza. This engine is rated to deliver 104 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. It is offered with transmission options of 5 MT as well as automatic. A mild hybrid option will also be on offer with S-Cross BS6 petrol.

In terms of features, Maruti S-Cross will come loaded. Though it will not be as feature loaded as the Hyundai Creta or the Kia Seltos, but it will have among the highest features-list seen on a Maruti car in India. To start with, exteriors will get projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lights, stylish new alloys, new colour options, etc.

On the inside, it will get state of the art Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system which will be compatible with Apple carplay as well as Android Auto. Steering wheel will have multiple control buttons embedded and it will get telescopic adjustment. Rear seats will be able to seat 5 adults, while it also has a 60:40 split.

In terms of safety, it will get dual airbags, speed sensing alarm, ABS with EBD, disc brake in the front and rear, etc. Earlier this month, a leaked document had confirmed that Maruti has started sales training of S-Cross petrol. The document also revealed that the sales team is being trained to pitch the S-Cross BS6 petrol as a rival to Kia Seltos.

Considering the feature list on offer, Kia Seltos is a far more advanced and powerful car. But where Maruti can win, is on the pricing. Expect the Maruti S-Cross to be priced more than Rs 1 lakh cheaper than Kia Seltos / Hyundai Creta – which start from Rs 10 lakh. Official prices of BS6 Maruti S-Cross petrol will be revealed at the launch.
