Bugatti Chiron acceleration of 0-100 kmph in just 2 seconds?

The Bugatti Veyron replacement, believed to be named Bugatti Chiron, is now believed to be capable of sprinting 0-100 kmph in 2 seconds flat! This is half a second faster than Bugatti Veyron SS WRE, which can record 0-100 in 2.5 seconds.

Contemporary Formula One cars manage 0-100 kmph acceleration in only 2.1 to 2.7 seconds (depending on the make), however, they are known to have been much quicker, touching 100 kmph in 1.6 seconds.
This record, if evident, will be courtesy of the same 8.0 litre W16 engine used in Veyron, but expectedly tuned to produce over 1,500 PS max power (1,103 KW). Peak torque rating is believed to be the same 1,500 Nm as on Veyron Super Sport. At a much earlier stage of development, it is said the engineers considered a 14-cylinder engine instead of this 16-cylinder unit. Despite the brutally higher power than supercars are known to possess, Chiron is believed to be tamed as an everyday car, but certainly not on Indian roads.

Although Bugatti Chiron and Veyron seem to be cut from the same cloth, there won’t be much common parts, as the replacement is said to have around 92 percent of new or altered components. Engine of next-gen Veyron is expected to pack e-turbos (electrically assisted quad-turbos) and equip direct injection and cylinder deactivation technologies, for starters.

Still, the above and a lot more info about the Veyron successor are not confirmed by the officials, true story will be revealed closer to the launch slated for 2016.
