Vision GT inspired Bugatti Chiron crash test mule spied

The Bugatti Veyron successor will be quicker, faster and aerodynamically more efficient.

The Bugatti Chiron is clearly the next big thing in the world of hypercars but the French outfit has been managing to keep the enthusiasts guessing about its design. Of course, the prototypes were spied but they were covered with misleading black cloak.

GTboard has come up with latest spyshots of what looks like a crash test mule of the eagerly anticipated hypercar. From the little that can be seen, the design cues appear to have been borrowed from the Bugatti Vision GT Concept which graced the Frankfurt Motor Show last month. The wraparound front windshield and narrow headlamps bear obvious references to the video game concept.

The non-reflective surfaces, markings on the roof and hood and the lack of proper interior appointments suggest that this particular shell is getting ready to be tested for its side impact strength.

The Bugatti Chiron is expected to be powered by the mighty 8.0-litre W16 petrol engine that also powered the Veyron. The new hypercar would receive hybrid assistance to have a combined power output in the vicinity of 1,500 PS. The VW-owned hypercar marque has all the intentions of breaking the production top speed record with its new creation.

More details are expected to emerge in the coming days. Bugatti is expected to take the wraps off the Chiron at next year’s Geneva Motor Show in March.
