Owning a Harley Davidson bike now gets more affordable. It may be remembered that in June 2018 Harley Davidson India announced testing of a used motorcycle sale platform at company dealerships in the country. Now this program is set to come in which will benefit every Harley Davidson aficionado as a lower price tag is what the company promises along with a host of other benefits.
As a part of the Harley Davidson Originals program, the company will put pre-owned bikes through a 99 point quality check. Harley Davidson Originals also offers every buyer to be a part of the Harley Owner’s Group (HOG) which is sponsored by the company and consists of over 10 lakh members across the globe.
Apart from these checks carried out by the company itself, the company will also offer smaller price tags, pre-sale inspection and an official 12 month warranty, 12 month roadside assistance and full history check. All this is available at all Harley Davidson authorized dealerships across India.
At the recent launch of the Harley Davidson Chennai dealership, Peter Mackenzie, Managing Director of Harley Davidson India stated that the company’s strategy is to reach out the potential customers. The apparel segment is also noting increased growth in India. The company has a total of 27 dealers in India from where not only the company’s 17 models are on sale but a wide array of motorcycle gear and apparel are also displayed.
Harley Davidson offers a range of 17 motorcycles in India which are priced between Rs 5.25 – 50 lakhs (new bikes). The pre-owned bike program is a part of the company’s initiative in India which is an important market for the company which is why increased investment is being planned apart from a manufacturing facility in Bawal, Haryana. Used bikes price is decided on the condition, and could start from as low as Rs 3 lakhs.
The company also has plans to introduce nimble motorcycles with smaller engines to cater to buyers demands in India and China. For this they are looking a local manufacturing partner so as to reduce cost, and capture wider market. Rumours suggest it could be Hero MotoCorp with whom Harley Davidson might tie-up. But these reports have not been confirmed by either company yet.
