2014 Cadillac CTS Twin-Turbo V-6 engine and eight-speed transmission
Cadillac has announced details of their new 2014 CTS midsized sedan as it was readied for the ongoing 2013 New York Auto Show. This vehicle is powered by a 3.6 liter 119 hp/liter engine and will be capable of 420 hp and 583 Nm torque. It is also Cadillac’s first twin turbo engine which is mated to an eight speed automatic transmission. It offers a high level of fuel efficiency while auto emissions are frugal.
The Cadillac CTS can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 274 kmph. Size and dimensions of the upcoming Cadillac are still not revealed but the vehicle will be able to offer 17 miles per gallon in city limited and 25 miles per gallon on the highway. The 2014 CTS sedan uses Apple’s Siri Eyes Free mode, which functions through iPhones and can be connected to the vehicles CUE infotainment system via USB or Bluetooth.
2014 Cadillac CTS will be seen with an engine which is an upgrade of the 3.6 liter DOHC V6 seen on the SRX, XTS and ATS and comes with a new direct injection fuel system and tuned air inlets and outlet resonators, aluminum cam covers and special features which contribute to smoothness and quietness of the engine performance. The vehicle houses the new Twin-Turbo V-6 engine that si mated with an eight-speed transmission.

Richard Bartlett, assistant chief engineer for the3.6L engine said, “The high-tumble heads were developed with advanced modeling programs that helped us determine the optimal design in less time and with less trial and error.” “Literally hundreds of simulations were performed to optimize the port flow, injector spray angle and pattern, and piston topology to produce a highly efficient yet powerful combustion chamber.”
