At 10.44 pm on Tuesday night, a 28-year-old driver in Auburn, USA crashed his car into a tree reportedly while playing the reality video game Pokemon Go.
Reports to this effect were released by the Auburn Police Department and while the man suffered only minor injuries, the fact remained that he was busy playing a game instead of concentrating on his driving.
Auburn Police Chief Shawn Butler, has issued a warning to all drivers not to play games while driving and to give top priority to their own safety and that of others on the road. He has issued the following warnings to drivers who are obsessed about this game that allows smartphone users to fight digital monsters in real life while they search for virtual Pokemon characters.
• Do not trespass onto private property to catch a Pokemon
• Be aware of your surroundings
• Use caution when sharing locations — strangers can see your location information
• Travel in groups and in well-lit areas
The police have not revealed the name of the man involved in the accident but stated that the extent of the accident was such that he had a narrow escape as the front end of his car was totally damaged.
