Car sales grow in India by 21.8% during Oct 2015 (Top 20 cars)

Increased tempo was seen where sales of passenger vehicles are concerned in the first half of this financial year, while the festive season has added further impetus. Domestic sales have increased nearly 10% during the first six months of this fiscal, as compared to sales in the same period of the previous year.

The month of October saw even further increase in sales, thanks to the festive mood amongst buyers. Car sales during the month stood at 1,94,158 units as against 1,59,408 units sold in the same month last year. This is a huge 21.8% increase in sales.

Leading the sales chart were Maruti Suzuki models, with DZire, Alto, Swift and WagonR taking top four positions. Maruti DZire claimed a top position in October 2015, overthrowing Maruti Alto in a lead position last year with a total of 24,502 units sold, a 36.5% increase.

Maruti Suzuki Alto stood in second position with 22,861 units sold as compared to 21,443 units sold in October 2014 while Swift and WagonR sales stood at 17,666 units and 14,734 units respectively. Maruti Swift moved up one position from fourth position in October 2014 to third position in the past month.

In fifth and sixth position were two Hyundai Grand i10 and i20. 14,079 units of Hyundai Grand i10 were sold while 9,150 units of i20 were sold during the past month with 67.6 percent and 2.8 percent increase respectively. Hyundai Creta on the other hand lost its No 1 selling SUV title to Mahindra Bolero. These SUVs take the seventh and eighth position. In 9th and 10th were two Honda cars – City and Amaze with sales of 7,022 untis and 6,971 units respectively.
