Car sales Nov 2017 – Maruti, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, Toyota, Honda, Ford

Maruti Suzuki India Limited – India’s largest automaker reported a 14.3% increases in November sales. The company sold 1,54,600 units in the past month which included 1,45,300 units domestic sales and 9,300 units which were exported. This was against 1,35,550 units sold in November 2016. It was noted, that sales of Alto and WagonR dipped 1.8% to 38,204 units as compared to 38,886 units sold in November 2016. However, sales of the company’s compact models such as the Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, DZire, Tour S, increased by 32.4% to 65,447 units, as compared to 49,431 units sold in November 2016.

Hyundai Motors sales in November 2017 marked a 10% year on year growth. The company sold 44,008 units in November 2017 as against 40,016 units sold in November 2016. Among the company’s leading models on sale were the Grand i10, Elite i20 and the Creta SUV and the Hyundai Verna sedan, launched in August also saw sales of 15,534 units during the period August to October 2017. The company has not shared its export figures.

Tata Motors announced strong sales in November 2017 with growth of 35% over the last year. The company has even outperformed over Mahindra and Mahindra in terms of volume making it the third largest seller of passenger vehicles in the country. Tata Motors’ Passenger vehicle sales in November 2017 stood at 17,157 units as against 12,736 units sold in November 2016. The company has noted increased demand for models such as the Tiago, Hexa, Tigor and Nexon and has increased production at the Ranjangaon facility from where its 10,000th Nexon rolled off production lines last week.

Mahindra sales were up 18% in November 2017 with total sales of 38,570 units as against 32,564 units sold in November 2016. In domestic markets sales increased 21% with 36,039 units sold in the past month as compared to 29,869 units sold in November 2016. It was models such as the Scorpio, XUV500, Xylo, Bolero and Verito that noted increased demand with an increase of 21% to 16,030 units as compared to 13,198 units sold in November 2016. Exports however dipped 6% to 2,531 units in November 2017 as compared to 2,695 units exported in the same month of the previous year.

Toyota Kirloskar Motors overtook Honda Cars in November to emerge the 5th largest selling car maker in the country. In the past month the company sold 12,734 units in domestic markets, an increase of 13% as compared to 11,309 units sold in November 2016. It was the company’s two products Innova Crysta and Fortuner that continued to witness strong demand in the market.

Honda Cars India reported domestic sales to the extent of 11,819 units in November 2017 as compared to 8,029 units sold in November 2016 and exports stood at 283 units. Among the company models on sale in the country, it was the Honda WR-V that garnered the most response to become the company’s top selling vehicle in November 2017 with 3,521 units sold. Honda City sedan secured second position with 3,315 units sold followed by Honda Jazz with 2,039 units sold in the past month. Honda Cars also sold 1,976 units of Amaze, 793 units of BR-V and 154 units of Brio besides 21 units of the Honda CR-V.

Ford India sales grew 13.10% in November 2017 with 7,777 units sold as compared to 6,876 units sold in November 2016. This boost in sales came from the new EcoSport facelift launched on 9th November 2017. Ford India noted a surge in exports which went up 36% in November to 19,242 units as against 14,128 units exported in November 2016. Combined domestic and exports of the company reached 27,019 units in November 2017 from 21,004 units in November 2016, a growth of 29%.
