There was a time when monthly car sales of Tata Motors was at about 30,000 units, and it was in the top 3 car brands of the country. But that time was long ago. Tata Motors car sales in India continue to decline in recent months.
After posting their lowest ever monthly sales of less than 7,500 units Aug 2019, sales in Sep 2019 also remain subdued. For Sep 2019, sales of Tata Motors have barely crossed the 8k mark.
Their best selling new cars, Tiago, Nexon, Tigor, Harrier failed to attract buyers, inspite of the launch of exciting discount offers, new PRO package, extended 5 yr warranty options, etc. In Sep 2019, Renault India has beaten Tata Motors in sales for the first time in many years. Below is the detailed car sales report for Sep 2019.
What is encouraging to see, is that MoM sales for almost all car brands have increased. Only Jeep India and Toyota have posted decline in MoM sales. This shows a positive sign, perfect for the just started festive season. All car brands are expecting to see huge boost in sales this month.
Renault India is the only car brand which has posted an increase in sales for Sep 2019. This is due to launch of two new exciting cars in the Rs 3-5 lakh segment. These are the new Renault Triber and the new Renault Kwid.
Renault has also posted the highest MoM increase in sales, growing by a staggering 46%. Other car brands which have posted good MoM growths are Kia India (24%), MG Motors (29%), Maruti Suzuki India (18%), Honda India (12%) and so on.
Total car sales posted by the 15 major car brands in India for Sep 2019 stood at 2,22,809 units. This was a decline of 22%, when compared to sales posted in Sep 2018 (2,88,704 units). But, this is a growth in sales, when compared to Aug 2019 sales.
In Aug 2019, total sales posted by these top car brands stood at 1,95,796 units. This is a growth of almost 14%. Oct 2019 is expected to see a further boost in sales, thanks to attractive discounts, and the festive season of Navratri, Diwali.
