Cars With Highest Discounts in Aug 2020 – Honda City to Jeep Compass

Here is a list of new cars which are available with huge discounts for Aug 2020

The automotive industry in India had already been reeling with a slowdown effect prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. It worsened further when the pandemic arrived.

For the first time, the entire automotive industry registered absolutely zero sales in April, the month where no businesses were carried out due to complete lockdown imposed across the country. However, things started to move on gradually since June as restrictions were eased.

July saw appreciable growth in terms of sales of automobiles which was backed by huge discounts at both company level as well as dealership level. Many manufacturers have extended this courtesy to customers for the month of August as well to boost up their numbers. Let us have a look at the list of cars which are offering benefits to the prospective buyers.

1- Mahindra Alturas

The flagship offering from Mahindra, the Alturas G4 is not a very popular product when compared to its segment rivals- Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The premium seven-seater SUV has not been able to plant itself as an established product even though it has decent features, space and practicality on offer. This is primarily because- first, between the Fortuner and Endeavour there is very little scope for any other SUV in this segment.

Second, a segment as high as this mostly caters to a niche audience which would always prefer the better product even though it costs a few extra bucks. Currently, Mahindra is offering benefits of up to Rs 3.05 lakh which includes a discount of Rs 2.4 lakh on cash payment, up to Rs 50,000 exchange bonus and corporate discounts. Ex-sh prices start from Rs 28.5 lakhs.

2 – Honda Civic

The midsize sedan space has witnessed drastic degrowth in sales over the past few years. This has been due to the overwhelming response to the compact and midsize SUVs in the growth which has grown leaps and bound over the last few years. Executive sedans like Honda Civic do offer premium-ness yet lack in value for money quotient which is offered by its younger sibling- Honda City and the rest of its compatriots in its segment.

The diesel variants of Civic are being offered at a discount of up to Rs 2.5 lakh. This can be inferred from the lack of sales for the diesel powertrain ever since it lost on the CVT in the BS6 era. Hence, poor sales and need for a discount. Prices start from Rs 20.7 lakhs, ex-sh.

3 – Honda City 4th Generation ZX CVT

Many wondered the reason for Honda to continue retailing the 4th generation City alongside the new 5th generation model. Many believed that the older model would be kept for fleet and cab operators which was later dished out by the Japanese manufacturer. It was difficult to fathom such a move when there was going to be a certain price overlap between the older and the new models.

This is what happened with the top-specced ZX CVT variant as it overlaps with the newer generation. Hence, the makers have decided to offer a heavy discount of up to Rs 1.74 lakh. This includes a cash discount of Rs 1.1 lakh, a loyalty bonus of Rs 6000 and exchange benefits of up to Rs 50000. In addition, a corporate discount of Rs 8000 is also applicable. Price range is Rs 13.01- Rs 14.31 lakh, ex-sh.

4 – Volkswagen Vento Highline Plus

The Vento despite being offered with a new and more spirited power plant of 1.0-litre TSI has not been able to garner that response. This is primarily due to the fact that its cousin- Skoda Rapid, also comes with the same unit and is a much better value for money product.

The top of the line Highline Plus variant is currently being offered at a discount of Rs 1.5 lakh. This includes a cash discount of Rs 1 lakh and a corporate discount of Rs 10,000. In addition to this, Volkswagen is also offering an exchange bonus of up to Rs 25,000 and a loyalty bonus of Rs 15000. Price range is Rs 11.99- 13.29 lakh(ex-showroom).
